Jumping to Help Hashem's Creation!

This was the scene - we walked outside for a mask break, and I noticed a baby rabbit limping across the grass. Within moments, with the class looking on in wonder, Benji Gold (6B) emptied his Marino ices cup, and we carefully lifted the injured rabbit into the cup. Inside, we washed the rabbit from the remnants of ices, and transferred it to a larger container.

We rushed to one of the Middle School Science teachers for her suggestion, and then got on the phone with the nearby Animal Care in Oradell. Unfortunately, they do not treat wildlife - but suggested we call the one in Franklin Lakes. Confirmed! "Please bring the poor baby to us to help!"

We then called an RYNJ parent in Franklin Lakes - "Of course! We''l be there soon! Thank you for letting us help in this mitzvah!" As we waited, 8B cousins Elisha Gamss and Akiva Parver, proud grandchildren of a lifelong veterinarian, show us how to check the baby rabbit's heartbeat. "Don't worry - 72 beats per minute," Elisha comforts the group.

We are hoping the rabbit recovers!

What a tremendous act of chesed! What a Kiddush Hashem!
